A new method of hand drilling to get to deeper water levels was getting ready to be tested.
- Day 1: Make sure all the tools and materials are purchased and ready; choose a location;
- Day 2: The Stream of Life Drilling Water Team (men from Gulu who have been training to dig wells with Hal), spent the entire day using the hand auger to advance to about 30 feet deep. Long day, but ready to test out the new method of going deeper in the morning.
- Day 3: As I talked with Hal I could hear his voice sounded very tired and discouraged. The new method takes much more energy and hard work. They got to about 40 feet, when the well caved in! (These wells are only about 6-inch diameter wells, so no one gets hurt - only the tools are going deep!)
- Today, after talking with Hal, he at least said he can look back and laugh about some of it now, but it was a very frustrating day of hard work. There is some question as to whether this method will be effective here in Uganda or not. Time will tell . . . I can't help but think about what it takes to "dig deeper" in our relationship with the Lord - at times maybe even feeling like the well caves in, or wondering if it really is effective. The difference is, with the Lord we can know it is effective and worth every extra effort! His mercies are new every morning . . . Great is His faithfulness!
The team from Roseville have left Gulu and are on their way back. Pray for safe travels as they make their way back home.
