Hal's on His Way to Gulu

Saturday January 14 – Monday, January 16, 2012

Hal and the team members have all arrived safely!  Thank you so much for your prayers and for all of you who have asked about him.  You are truly an encouragement to Hal and to me!  We feel like we are in this together with you!

After a winter storm delay in Chicago for the team who was supposed to arrive a couple of days ahead of Hal, they ended up on the same connecting flight from London to Entebbe!  But, after making this trip “a few times”, no surprise to Hal  – 5 of their bags did not make it…  So the traveling portion of the journey begins – and continues.  Saturday the plan was to pick up materials for the wells (PVC pipes, etc.) from the market place, where the vendors were so happy to see Hal and visit with him!  But, they were sorry the materials were not available so he would need to come back for them on Monday.  Again I am reminded of how “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21

Saturday Hal was able to attend a wedding of an old friend, Paul Majoli, he met while we lived there in 2006.  Weddings are such a time of celebration and joy – lots of music and dancing and singing!  Good timing when trying to stay awake as a result of jet lag! (An 11-hour time change leaves one feeling pretty upside down . . .)

Then, Monday was a full and “productive” day by American standards . . .

A 1-hour drive back to the airport brought the 5 stray bags back into custody with all belongings intact – now to pile them into the vehicle to the ceiling and make the 1-hour drive back to Kampala.

Off  to the busy market place – driving through over-crowded streets/alleys remembering to stay on the LEFT side of the road now! It proves to be a "successful venture" with all materials purchased and strapped to a little truck.

                                                                            Whew!  Next stop, Gulu tomorrow . . .  Please continue to pray for safety and health for all as they travel to Gulu, about a 6-hour drive up North starting our time this evening.
